Villa Rental in Ubud, Bali
Long-term and short-term villa rentals in Ubud — Bali’s cultural and wellness heartland, fully managed by Azeroth PM.
Rent a Villa in Ubud, Bali
Ubud operates on a different frequency from the rest of Bali. There is no coastline here — instead, river gorges, dense jungle canopy and terraced rice paddies define the landscape. The air is cooler, the pace slower, and the island’s artistic, spiritual and culinary traditions are closest to the surface. Ubud has been drawing long-stay travellers — writers, artists, yoga practitioners and families on extended Asia stints — for four decades. The villa stock reflects that heritage: properties here are deeply integrated with the landscape, with jungle outlooks, open-air pavilions and the sound of a river gorge replacing the ocean. Whether you are here for a week of wellness retreats, a month of cultural immersion, or a longer creative residency, renting a villa in Ubud is an entirely different kind of Bali experience.
Who Chooses Ubud?
Ubud draws one of the most diverse long-stay communities in Bali — united by a preference for depth over beach, and a willingness to trade ocean access for the island’s richest cultural and natural environment.
Wellness & Yoga TravellersUbud hosts more world-class yoga shalas, sound healing studios and Ayurvedic retreats per square kilometre than almost anywhere in Asia. Guests base themselves in a private villa and build a bespoke daily practice around the area’s rich schedule.
Cultural TravellersTemples, traditional dance performances, batik workshops, silversmithing courses and woodcarving villages surround the Ubud centre. A full week barely scratches the cultural surface — which is why guests consistently extend their stays.
Families on Extended StaysUbud’s cooler highland climate, calmer road speeds and proximity to the Green School and Kulkul international education network make it a serious base for family sabbaticals of a month or more.
Digital Nomads & Remote WorkersA mature high-speed WiFi infrastructure, excellent co-working spaces and one of Southeast Asia’s most established expat communities have made Ubud a top-tier remote-work base for over a decade.
Ubud’s Landmarks & Natural Highlights
Ubud’s natural and cultural highlights are the primary reason most guests choose the area over Bali’s beach destinations — and they are numerous enough to fill weeks of exploration without repetition.
Tegallalang Rice TerracesThe most photographed landscape in Bali. Best visited at 7am before the tour groups arrive, when the light turns the tiered paddies cinematic. Several Tegallalang villas offer private terrace views from the breakfast table.
Sacred Monkey ForestThree Balinese Hindu temples inside a forest of 700 long-tailed macaques. More culturally significant than the tourist brochure suggests — traditional ceremonies take place in the temple grounds and the site is actively sacred.
Campuhan Ridge WalkA two-kilometre trail above the confluence of two sacred rivers, through a dramatic jungle ridge. The best free activity in Ubud and one of the most rewarding walks in Bali — do it at sunrise before the heat arrives.
Dining, Lifestyle & Wellness
Ubud’s food scene is one of the most sophisticated in Bali — a genuine mix of world-class fine dining, plant-based cuisine, local warung culture and rice-paddy lunch experiences that have no equivalent elsewhere on the island.
LocavoreConsistently ranked among Asia’s 50 best restaurants. Modern European cooking built around Balinese and Indonesian ingredients sourced within 100km. Book two weeks in advance — worth every effort.
Zest UbudUpscale plant-based dining with a strong juice bar and a loyal expat following. The shaded garden terrace is one of the most pleasant extended lunch settings in the area — a three-hour meal is not unusual.
Naughty Nuri’sThe legendary warung that put Ubud on the international food map. Pork ribs, strong martinis and no pretence. A required first-night visit for any guest who has not been before.
Sari OrganikA warung set in the rice paddies of Penestanan, accessible only by foot along a paddy path. Organic Balinese food, fully open-air setting over active terraces. One of the most distinctive long-lunch experiences in Ubud.
Clear CaféVegetarian and raw food café on Hanoman Street, popular with the wellness and yoga crowd. Reliable for a light post-practice breakfast or a quiet mid-morning work session.
Alaya ResortThe most reliable fine-dining option for villa guests who want a hotel-quality dinner without travelling far. Strong cocktail program, beautiful open courtyard and attentive service that suits a celebratory evening.
Neighbourhoods Within Ubud
Ubud is not a single neighbourhood but a collection of distinct villages, each with its own atmosphere and villa typology. Location within the Ubud area significantly affects the daily experience — from walk-everywhere convenience to deep jungle immersion.
Central UbudJalan Raya and Monkey Forest Road. The most convenient base: markets, galleries, restaurants and transport all within walking distance. Ideal for shorter stays where every day should be maximally full.
PenestananThe artist village immediately west of the centre, separated by the Campuhan river gorge. Quieter, greener and home to some of Ubud’s most architecturally interesting villa compounds and creative residencies.
Nyuh KuningA traditional Balinese village south of the Monkey Forest with an unusually peaceful character and excellent villa stock. Ten minutes’ walk from the centre. Popular with families and longer-stay guests.
TegallalangFifteen minutes north of the Ubud centre — deep jungle immersion and direct views over the celebrated rice terraces. Best suited to guests who prioritise nature and privacy over easy restaurant access.
Getting Around
Ubud is 1.5 hours from Ngurah Rai Airport and 45 minutes from Canggu — a genuine journey that guests consistently say is worth every minute once they arrive. Within Ubud, getting around is straightforward.
Ngurah Rai Airport38–45 km south — 75 to 100 minutes by private driver. A fixed-price airport transfer arranged via your villa manager is the most comfortable option. Most Ubud guests build this into their booking from the start.
Gojek & GrabHighly reliable throughout Ubud centre and surrounding villages. The most practical option for evening restaurant runs when parking is scarce or you want to enjoy a drink without driving back.
ScooterStill the most flexible way to navigate Ubud and the surrounding villages. Central streets see tourist congestion midday — the side lanes through rice paddies and forest are a genuine pleasure to ride morning and evening.
Private DriverFor day trips to Kintamani volcano, Tirta Empul temple or Mount Batur, and for airport runs, a full-day private driver (~IDR 600k including fuel) is the most comfortable arrangement available.
